Great Quote

We want to say thank you the only way we know how – that’s by playing rock ‘n’ roll. Any entertainment to break up the work week is great. You can forget about life, relax and have a reminder that there is an appreciation there.

Wallpaper + New Site

After our best jam with our new drummer (Greg "Frenchy" Richard"), we are now pushing ourselves to start producing more tunes and refine our classics. This also means we have to start getting the "buzz" out about Quonset. We have purchased quonsetrock.ca & quonsetrock.com to help with this.

The website is currently in "development" mode, but you can still download a Quonset wallpaper. The fully functional site will be launching within in a month or so. Stay up to date with the our blog, follow us on Facebook or check out our tunes on either myspace or reverbnation.

Cheers and stay buzzed,

Sh*t Damn!

Well, we had out first jam in 2010 last night and it was a pretty damn fine one to say the least. With the new dynamics that Greg "The Conductor" brings to the band, there definitely will be modifications to our older tunes. 2010 is  good year to re-invent Quonset.

We started off getting Greg brought up to speed with the Quonset classics (Genesissy, Mary Thymes, She's Gone, Retribution, etc.) which went pretty well.  Once Greg becomes accustomed to these (and the rest of us get accustomed to the new beats) we'll be recording our jams so we can update our myspace and reverbnation pages, so you the fan, can have a listen. For people who have seen or heard our tunes in the past, expect big changes in the future. Our mission now is to build upon the solid foundation that we have put in place and build a three storey castle of PURE COUNTRY FRIED ROCK on top!

One thing we started last night, is the remake of a fan favourite, Golden. We expect this tune to blow socks and the odd skirt off ;)

Cheers and stay buzzed,

Excellent Quote

I was searching around today and found an excellent quote from Josh Homme (Kyuss, QOTSA), which pretty much sums up a lot of what Quonset is about. Let the music build itself.

The music as a whole is selfish, but the musicians aren’t. The song may go on forever but it’s not about competition within the band; it’s about playing as a band.

The "Q" logo

Here is a near finalized version of the Q logo, anyone have any thoughts?

Jan 10, 2010

Where did the bands name come from?

Quon·set (kwŏn'sĭt) A trademark used for a prefabricated portable hut having a semicircular roof of corrugated metal that curves down to form walls. This trademark often occurs in attributive contexts in print: "a Quonset building that once stored grain" (Chicago Tribune).

How does this correlate into our bands name? It's where we started to jam and continue to jam.

Got to run, hangover is killer.

New Quonset Member?

Well, we have news...some good and some bad.

We have a "new member" to the band, Greg Richard. Greg originally started with the band as Quonset's banjo player, but now is going to start laying the beats for us. We are totally fueled to have Greg as a part of the band, again, because of his drumming experience with Tippy & Wiggins during their time with former band, Blind Truth and Greg fits right into Quonset's mold.

But this means, we had to lose our current drummer, Ade Nadeau, in the process. And there lies the bad news. Ade was a Quonset original, laying out the steady beats to all the Quonset originals, so it was a hard decision to make - but as a band, we felt this was the right move.

We wish Ade all the best in his future drumming endeavors and thank him for everything that we created!

We will be getting Greg quickly adjusted to the old tunes while we refine the Quonset groove with our newest songs. Stay tuned for new recordings and videos coming within the next little while.

If your interested in more Quonset, check out:

Well folks, that's all I got, I must start priming the liver for tonight's festivities, so stay buzzed and keep the good times rolling.

Quonset Merchandise

We are currently working on a few design concepts for some upcoming Quonset Merchandise.  We are in the midst of rebranding ourselves, and have decided to go with a brown on brown idea, with a little splash of red (see logo in previous post). We have slightly enhanced out text version of the logo (see logo in previous post) and we'll also be working on tweaking our "Q" logo (design tweaks will be posted in the near future).

We are planning on making tshirts, long sleeves and a few hats in the near future. So if your interested in owning some one of kind Quonset gear, drop us a line.

Here is a working version of a potential "back of a shirt" idea, what do you think?
Well that's all folks - Cheers!

New Years Eve Jam

We started off the New Year with beer and cheers at the Bachmans. The beer was flowing down the ole liquor tube quite easily, but we seemed to pull off a rather decent jam (thanks Beav for filling in on the skins).

We have some rather fine ideas and tunes for 2010, so please keep up to date with the latest happenings of Quonset. We'll keep you posted on any new happenings or little gems that we might think of.

Till the next time, stay buzzed and have fun.

P.S. What's your take on the new logo concept?
